wonderful opportunity★

Why ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Chose Tumblr

Earlier this year, Facebook and Twitter played a crucial role in mobilizing protestors in Iran, Cairo and Tunisia. Now Tumblr has been uniquely appropriated for a U.S.-based protest movement known as Occupy Wall Street, which has been coalescing in New York, Boston and Chicago to challenge the influence of corporate money on government and the growth of social and economic inequality….
Duy Linh Tu, director of Digital Media at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, said that Tumblr “hits a unique sweet spot.” Whereas Twitter only allows 140 characters and conventional blogging sites only allow the writer to interact, Tumblr combines the two.

THE TUMBLR 20 | NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Oh, the memories! This is a quick (and beautifully edited) film of the Tumblr 20 at the Hudson Hotel throughout the duration of our 10-day stay. Catch a glimpse of the Style Closet sponsored by NMRKT, our private lounge, and the overall hotel’s awesomeness. Also, you can peep me in the video quite a few times (16 year old black kid with big hair)! A huge THANK YOU, once again, to Rich Tong, Morgan Hotels, Holly Stair, and the rest of the Tumblr 20 for making it the most amazing experience of my life. Forever grateful.

checkthis - Impressive Microblogging platform

Tumblr should take note of the user interface here - it is far more appealing, dynamic, and can structure a post in interesting ways. More about it’s features:

  • No clutter
No registration. No set-up. No save button. No sidebar.
  • Clear privacy
Create and share on your terms.
  • Temporary or permanent
One day, one week, one month. You choose.
  • Public or private
Open to the world or password-protected. One editor or many.

How does it work? First step: go to checkthis and put up your content. Second step: publish and share your beautiful link. There is no third step.

How is that possible? Everything you publish – videos, text, pictures and more – is automatically saved to its own web address. Something short and random like checkthis.com/abc. You can leave it public or password protect it, then invite other people to have a look or edit it themselves.
